ST. THOMAS AQUINAS
MURAL PROJECT
How it all started....
Project H.O.M.E. (Helping our Mother Earth) was started at St. Thomas Aquinas School, where over 100 students became involved in a mural project that inspired the whole school, and beyond. Educators from across Canada began to inquire about the project and so Project H.O.M.E. was launched. It's a Canada-wide campaign to help educators and schools in their own similar projects by providing the tools for them to launch their own mural projects, or related events.
Mother Earth is our home and young people are the leaders of the future. What they have to say about our environment is important. They worry about the planet, and the pollution they see and hear about. They worry about the water. We need to listen to the young people's message. If we listen, we can all learn and change our ways.
Art, such as murals, and other activities shared in this project are vehicles for young people to express their voices. It's powerful to witness.
We invite your school or class to do your own mural project, and join us in giving young people a voice through art. After all, they are the future. Let's empower them to know their message counts and to take action.
