Types of Workshops
K-12 Educator Training & Professional Development
We offer a variety of workshops and can be tailored to meet the specific needs of your school/board/organization and can be a half or full day.
A workshop can focus on any number of a variety of topics including:
- connecting and embedding Indigenous knowledge in various disciplines
- Treaty education
- inquiry/project based learning using Indigenous Pedagogy
- creating cross-curricular, interdisciplinary programming
One of our primary workshops highlights the use of traditional story telling as a provocation for learning. The Sacred Fisher Story, as told by traditional story teller Isaac Murdoch from Serpent River First Nation engages participants on the importance of the environment and our responsibility to it. Examples of ways to connect key teachings within the story to the classroom are shared and the teacher resource kit Lessons From the Earth will be explored.
