First shared at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Secondary School, this story became the inspiration for a multi-disciplinary school wide mural project. The work to create a four panel mural was a collaboration of students, teachers, community Elders and traditional storyteller Isaac Murdoch from Serpent River First Nation, and renowned Métis artist, Christi Belcourt. Recognizing the impact of the murals, they and the story, became the foundation for the development of this resource. To learn more about this mural project click here.
There are a series of activities that reinforce and further explore the key concepts and messages from the story.
Although there are a variety of themes embedded within the story, this resource focuses on 7 big ideas, each with supporting videos and sample lesson plans with curriculum connected activities. All lesson plans also have connections to the Catholic Virtues and Catholic Graduate Expectations.
