LESSONS FROM THE EARTH & BEYOND

WE COME FROM THE STARS

Picture
Isn't it amazing to think that we all come from the stars?

What's even more exciting is that people from all over the world have similar understandings about how we come from the stars!  Below you will hear many perspectives, both Indigenous and Western, all telling the same story...we come from the stars!

Let's go visit Isaac in his classroom to learn a bit more!
Here you will learn about:

* the meaning behind Anishinaabe
* creation stories of the milky way (Anishinaabek and Diné )
* Moari stories of Creation, Maui and Aoraki

Let's listen to what Daniella who works at NASA has to say about how stars are related to our origins.
Let's go visit Daniella in her classroom to learn more about the following:
* life cycle of a star
* stars create elements
* elements create life
* Indigenous knowledge systems from around the world can also resonate with Western science

Did you know that knowledge is also encoded in Indigenous languages?  This is why it is so important that we learn how critical it is to ensure our languages survive.  They contain intricate details about our connection to everything and also our responsibilities here on Earth.

Let's listen to Tehahenteh explain how language ( Kanienʼkéha - Mohawk) can also explain our connection to stars.
During this video he will share:
*how Indigenous knowledge systems can resonate with Western Science
* knowledge about stars is also encoded in Indigenous languages

Isn't this all so interesting?

Well, there is still more to learn!

Let's go back and visit Isaac to dive a little deeper in understanding our connection to mathematics and nature!
Here we will learn about:
* stories can help us understand important lessons about ourselves and our connection to nature
* the role of balance in our lives and in mathematics
* there are numerous patterns found in nature that are mathematical
* Fibonacci sequence
* Fractals
* Concentric circles
* Math and Science are just catching up to Indigenous knowledge
